CUTTING DRIVER GUIDING COSTS

The cost of hiring a fully qualified, registered and properly insured Blue Badge Driver Guide is already high and is set to continue to increase. The cause is the cost of motor spirit in Britain and also throughout Europe. Cost at the pump is on a fast upward spiral. Already in Britain we are paying over US $10 a gallon (British) which is about US $8.50 per US gallon.

You will all know that for some years now I have strongly advised my clients (agents and private travellers) to reduce costs by forming small or even larger groups. To continue to offer my very personal service I have recommended groups of no more than around 12 travellers. I am happy to say that many of you now are doing just this. I am now cutting my own costs to you.

My New System

The largest component in the cost of hiring a Driver Guide is in the vehicle and its full running costs of fuel, special insurance and vehicle depreciation. For example please consider a one-day trip to Stonehenge, Bath and maybe Salisbury for no more than 3 people. The recommended Blue Badge driver guide rate is a staggering £545 and for up to 8 people is £585. Just multiply this by the upper exchange rate of more than $2 to one UK £ and you have a NIGHTMARE. So here is my new idea (actually I already have done and will continue to do this for many visitors).

You hire the vehicle

If you wish you may nominate me as an alternative driver. You pay the fuel costs (hire a diesel vehicle for economy) and I will need only to charge my basic expenses and a MUCH REDUCED daily guiding fee of no more than £200 ($410) per day. This system will cut out the very high special insurance charges and also it will remove the vehicle cost, maintenance and depreciation.

Please think about it

You from your side of the Atlantic you will often be able to obtain special reduced hire rates or card reward reductions. It makes sense!
